Meet the Artist: Roland Morin
"THE ARTIST OF COLORS"
Roland Morin was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1954. His artistic talent began at the young age of nine. His interest in the arts carried him through school. He later attended PICA Art School in Baltimore for a short period of time and was involved in several art shows. Roland is a modern-style artist who uses simplistic designs mixed with bright, vivacious colors. The reason for the use of bright colors in his
paintings is because he sees the world in its dark condition, heading on the path to disaster, and he hopes that the bright colors might bring some joy to the viewer.
During his teenage and young adult years, he would paint in dark, drab colors. Later on in his life, after his encounter with Jesus Christ, his artwork changed dramatically with the use of colors like he's never used before. He paints in a simplistic style as not to confuse the viewer. "Let's face it, the world is not a simple place to live in anymore; therefore, why should we, as artists, make our artwork any more difficult for them to understand and accept? I find it a challenge to express my artwork without the use of many colors. It is fun for me to explain myself in this format."
Roland enjoys the process of mixing colors and applying them to the canvas and describes it as an outlet to express how he sees subject matter. He uses flowers
and carousels as his main subjects because of the diversity of shapes and colors available to work with. "I hope that you will enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it."
